Bursary in support of Alternative Paths of Environmental Learning
The Knick Knack Nook offers bursaries to individuals of any age who are studying environmental sustainability in a nontraditional manner. This may be through workshops, non-traditional schools where there is no financial aid available or online courses. The scope of opportunity for this bursary is wide and the Awards Committee will consider applications from individuals whose proposal will ultimately contribute to the environmental sustainability of the community.

Please submit fully completed application to Knick Knack Nook Re-Use It Store Society, to the attention of the Awards Committee at [email protected] Recipient of the Alternative Paths of Environmental Learning Grants 2016 Jessica Mitts—($2,000) Jessica was studying online to become a “Land Care Professional” at Gaia College. The courses she was taking included: holistic land management, landscape design, horticulture, permaculture, business skills, water management, growing food and soil sciences. The bursary helped to pay for the final courses needed to complete her studies. 2018 Duncan Glave—($1,000) The bursary awarded to Duncan Glave was used to finance his self-directed, coral reproduction experiment. Duncan was exploring the possibility of creating a coral “seed bank” with samples of the dying corals or coral sold in the aquarium trade, and grow them on his own, in his own systems. For his Grade 10 Middle Years Program Personal Project, he wanted to understand how practical this future may be by learning what would be involved in cultivating coral.
